Some things

So far this week I've rescued this plant:

And a box of holiday cards. Perfect for next year!

Apartment complexes are great for finding random (semi-) useful things

Old shower curtain

What would you do with an old plastic-y shower curtain that has fulfilled it's purpose by preventing water from getting all over your bathroom?

Because that's a lot of plastic that can't be recycled...
Cut that thing into strips!

About an inch wide should do it. If you can keep it in one continuous strip by cutting around the edge, even better.
Then crochet it!

When they flimsy strips are crocheted together, the "fabric" because surprisingly sturdy. This will be my new doormat for the front door (because plastic is weather-proof-ish!)
I'll post a picture when it's all done.

Flowers!

I found these lovely flowers in a dumpster behind a store. It was "accidental dumpster diving" since I was just walking by and saw those colorful flowers peeking out.

I never buy flowers, but I saved $26!

There were a few roses that wilted, but the rest of the flowers were perfectly fine and perky. Literally good as new. And they smell delightful (i.e., not like a dumpster).

The Four Rs

Reduce. Reuse. Repurpose. Recycle.
In that order.

This has been an on-going effort in my life for a while now. It's become almost like a hobby for me.

By documenting all of my little projects and sending them off into the blogosphere I hope to inspire even just one person to think about the things that they throw away.
